The Little Tiger That Taught Me Something

A simple drawing, a thoughtful child, and a memory worth keeping.

A tiger drawn by a little girl on a sheet of notebook paper

A priceless little masterpiece, created with a pencil, notebook paper, and a kind heart.

Sometimes life gives us little reminders that the most valuable things are not always the things we can buy.

Last week, I attended a meeting where a little girl walked up to me and asked a simple question.

“What is your favorite animal?”

I answered, “A tiger.”

That seemed to be the end of the conversation.

A little while later, however, she returned and handed me the drawing you see above.

To someone else, it might look like nothing more than a child’s sketch on a piece of notebook paper.

To me, it is priceless.

A Gift Made With a Pure Heart

What makes this drawing special is not whether every stripe is perfect or whether it looks exactly like a real tiger.

What matters is what happened between the question and the drawing.

She listened. She remembered my answer. She took the time to create something especially for me, and then she gave it away without expecting anything in return.

Children have a beautiful way of reminding us what genuine kindness looks like. They do not worry about whether a gift is expensive, impressive, or perfectly made.

They simply create something with love and give it from the heart.

The value of a gift is not measured by how much it costs, but by the heart of the person who gave it.

The Value of Thoughtfulness

Running a small business teaches you many lessons. You learn about planning, patience, hard work, responsibility, and perseverance.

Moments like this, however, remind us of another lesson that is just as important:

Thoughtfulness has real value.

It can be found in a handwritten note, a kind word, a cup of coffee shared with someone, a helping hand offered to a neighbor, or a child’s drawing made simply to brighten another person’s day.

These gestures may only take a few minutes, but they often become the memories we carry with us for years.

Why I Will Keep This Drawing

I have received many things throughout my life, but not everything becomes a memory worth saving.

This drawing will.

Years from now, I may not remember every detail about the meeting I attended that day. I may not remember every conversation or everything that was discussed.

But I believe I will remember the little girl who asked me my favorite animal, quietly went away to draw it, and later returned with her masterpiece.

I will remember that she listened.

I will remember that she cared enough to create something for me.

Most of all, I will remember the pure heart behind the gift.

A Message for Her Mom

Her mom may eventually see this story and recognize the talented artist behind this tiger.

If she does, I want her to know that she is raising a thoughtful and caring young lady.

Her daughter reminded an adult that kindness does not have to be complicated. Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes, a sheet of paper, and the desire to make someone smile.

I hope she never loses that beautiful gift.

At Sabrosito Coffee, we believe coffee has a special way of bringing people together.

But it is the kindness we share during those moments that gives them meaning.

Sometimes the greatest gifts do not arrive in expensive boxes.

Sometimes they arrive on notebook paper, drawn by a child who simply wanted to make someone happy.

Stay kind, keep creating memories, and enjoy the little moments.
